Turn any YouTube video into a language lesson

Paste a link and the page loads the video’s caption tracks, splits them sentence by sentence, and gives you four ways through the material: dictation to check spelling, shadowing to train pronunciation, hidden-text listening, and AI cloze that tests grammar and collocation. No downloads, no subtitle files to assemble by hand.

Watching with dual subtitles only proves you understood. Recall comes from producing the sentence yourself — typing it, saying it, filling in the words you missed. Whatever you save goes into a vocabulary bank that reappears on a spaced-repetition schedule, so watching time turns into language you keep.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need the browser extension?

You can paste a link and browse the video with its full caption list right away. Sentence-level dictation, shadowing feedback, and AI cloze read caption data through the free LangKey extension for Chrome, Edge, and Firefox.

Which video sites are supported?

This page’s link box is built for YouTube. The same extension supports Bilibili, Netflix and TED natively, with OCR fallback for any other captioned page.

Is this practice page free?

Subtitles, sentence dictation, shadowing and cloze practice are usable for free. Pro adds AI-generated exercises (CEFR-levelled dictation prompts), Anki sync and cloud study records; the core modes are enough for daily study.

Which languages can I practice?

Whatever the video is in — as long as YouTube has human or auto-generated captions for it. The interface itself ships in 10 languages: English, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, Japanese, Korean, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, and Russian.

How is this different from a dual-subtitle extension?

Dual subtitles help you understand. Practice helps you recall: dictation forces you to decode sound into spelling, shadowing builds muscle memory, and cloze exposes the grammar and collocations you only half-know.
